President's Message
Thank you for your interest in the Plano Police Association. The PPA is dedicated to the promotion of professionalism in law enforcement, not only in the City of Plano, but the State of Texas. The PPA has worked hard to achieve an open dialogue, and strives to maintain that dialogue with the administration of the department, the City of Plano, and members of the City Council. This dialogue is an attempt to not only ensure the Plano Police Department remains among the most professional in the state, but that the City of Plano maintains its high standing as a desirable place to live and work.
The PPA is affiliated with the Texas Municipal Police Association, and through that organization works to improve the law enforcement profession statewide. Members voluntarily serve on the board of directors and various committees of TMPA, helping to lobby for legislation that keeps the Lone Star State above all others.
In addition to being an advocate for public safety employees, attempting to improve the law enforcement profession, and working to maintain a high level of service for Plano's citizens, the PPA also actively supports many charities. As a non-profit charitable association, the PPA regularly assists organizations committed to providing for others. Some examples are listed on the Charities page on this site, and include our signature organization, Christmas Cops. PPA members started Christmas Cops around 1987, and that year provided for 12 families in need in our community, one of the first programs of its kind in North Texas.
Since that initial season, Christmas Cops has grown so large that it has spun off into its own organization with its own board of directors, although its primary benefactor remains the PPA. In addition to financial support, members help to collect toys and food, package these items for delivery, and assist with delivering these packages to families who might not have a Christmas without this valuable program. The PPA is proud to have started Christmas Cops, and continue to be proud of the ongoing success of the program. The PPA also provides for employees in need through our Assist the Officer program, which offers assistance for members who have endured a life changing event, a serious illness or injury, or a tragic occurrence.
The PPA is funded through member dues and donations from local citizens and businesses. If you wish to make a donation to PPA, please feel free to contact any board member listed on this site. We also welcome your questions and comments.
Best Regards,
Aaron Graham
